Very young children who have experienced trauma show signs of anxiety, behavioral issues and sensory challenges. The Cleveland County Head Start early intervention program wanted to directly support this population with the creation of two sensory spaces: one calming and one gross motor. The gross motor room features adaptive climbing walls, slides, sensory swings and more. Products with LED lights, a Color Tube, calming sensory seating and soothing wall panels create a multi-sensory experience in the calming room. The results exceeded expectations, with kids gaining critical support and skills they’ll need as they continue to develop throughout their childhood.
